Think hunting is cruel? by Pencilartguy Think hunting is cruel? by Pencilartguy
Ok, this stamp is related to a video I saw on youtube. I actually saw the video a while ago but when I just read a comment of someone singing the lyrics to the song I felt I had to address this issue. The video is about a dog singing a song condemning Sarah Palin for wolf hunting. This video has drawn many wolf fans and has been the favorite of those who hate Sarah Palin simply because of her wolf hunting.

First, Sarah Palin is no longer governor of Alaska. Sean Parnell is. Sarah resigned in july, 2009. Wolfaboos have no more reason to go after her.

But the main point of this stamp is, wolf hunting is nowhere near as cruel as forcing dogs to kill each for sport. To compare Sarah's approval of aerial hunting to Michael Vick's illegal dog fighting ring is a horrible comparison not even worth making.

The pain a fighting dog goes through is unimaginable. They are beaten and starved in order to increase their aggression towards other dogs. Other dogs have been stolen so they would be used "bait" animals. A bait animal was an animal which would be practice for a fighting dog to kill. A dog that was to be bait has been reported to have duct tape wrapped around their snouts to prevent them from hurting the dog. The wounds each dog suffers from fighting are horrible. And sadly enough, a dog that lived it's life as a fighting dog often has to be put down since it has become too dangerous to be adopted. Dogs rescued from the fighting ring seldom get a second chance.

Look, I'm not a huge fan of aerial hunting. There's not much sport in it and it's really only used to regulate wolf populations. To be fair most shots taken from the plane don't hit the wolf's vital spots which may cause a slow death. But Sarah Palin's approval of this pales in comparison to Michael Vick's crimes. To suggest wolf hunting to be more atrocious than forcing dogs to kill each other is just plain stupid.

I'd rather be killed than be used to fight, at least I'll have a quick death and not years of endless fighting, plus dogs are awesome

There is a huge difference between aerial predator control and aerial hunting. Aerial predator control is legal and used to and only control the population so predators don't destroy the ecosystem. Aerial hunting is straight up illegal and punishable by law.

My dog was probably bred to be a ring dog, but some guy brought her into the shelter saying that she was in a home that was 'not good for her'. She's got thick neck skin, an iron skull, and jaws like a bear trap, but we love her and she is the sweetest thing.

Why did I write this? I don't know. But anyway, nice stamp.

How is hunting wolves like killing a family?

They aren't really a family, they live together only for living purposes, not because they lUV each other.

what would you rather perfer? A non endangered wolf quickly shot in the head to end its misery or an innocent dog taken from the street, starved, and then trained to fight (and possibly kill) other dogs with the same fate?
